Tomorrow waits beyond my door,
A place walked many times before.
Yet now each hallway seems so wide,
With nowhere left for me to hide.
I’ll wear my name upon my chest,
And pray my trembling heart finds rest.
I’ll tie my hair, stand tall once more,
Though grief still washes to my shore.
Perhaps I’ll hear your voice nearby,
Before I ever catch your eye.
A single word, a passing graze,
Could wake the ache of distant days.
If fate should guide our paths to meet,
I’ll hold myself on steady feet.
I’ll greet you with a quiet smile,
Though breaking lasts a little while.
For love does not dissolve one day,
Or simply choose to fade away.
It lingers softly, deep inside,
Where silent memories still reside.
I will not beg for what has gone,
Nor chase the echoes we’ve withdrawn.
You’ve heard my heart, you’ve known it’s true;
There’s nothing left to prove to you.
Instead I’ll answer every call,
And give my kindness through it all.
To those in pain I’ll gently tend,
Though mine still waits for time to mend.
If tears should gather in my eyes,
I’ll let them fall where no one spies.
I’ll wash my face, breathe slow and deep,
Reciting promises I plan to keep.
For strength is not a soul untouched,
Nor one that never hurts this much.
True courage lives in those who stay,
Though every fiber begs to stray.
And if I see you, passing through,
I’ll simply hope the best for you.
No anger there, no grand farewell,
Just love that learned to bear pain well.
When evening paints the fading sky,
I’ll whisper with a weary sigh,
“I made it through another day…”
And let tomorrow find its way.
For healing isn’t swift or bright;
It comes one dawn, one day, one night.
So as my heart still calls your name,
I’ll love you still…
…but walk the same.
