Each choice we make, both small and wide,
Leaves footprints where our hearts reside.
Though time may soften every scar,
It cannot change the marks they are.
I cannot beg the tide to stay,
Nor wash the things I’ve cast away.
No pleading voice, no whispered plea,
Can rewrite what has come to be.
You placed your trust into my hands,
Like fragile glass or shifting sands.
I held it close with all I knew,
Yet still it slipped and shattered through.
So now the chain lies still, undone,
The title lost, the crown unwon.
No longer yours to kneel beneath,
Just silent space and quiet grief.
This is the weight that choices bear:
To love, to lose, to still stand there.
Not every wound is meant to mend,
Not every story gets its end.
So I will wear what I have earned,
The lesson written where it burned.
Not out of shame, nor endless blame,
But knowing life is not a game.
For every action plants a seed,
In thought, in word, in silent deed.
And though I’d trade this pain away,
The harvest comes despite my pray.
So here I stand with empty hands,
Taking what the price demands.
If consequence must be my guide,
I’ll walk beside it…not to hide.
And if our paths remain entwined,
It won’t erase this fault of mine.
But I will know, come joy or tears,
That every choice affects our years.
