When Love Becomes a Verb

Love starts within the heart, a quiet, steady flame,
A feeling without reason, before it has a name.
It rises without warning, asks nothing to begin,
A warmth that finds its resting place somewhere beneath the skin.

Then love travels to the mind, where feelings learn to speak,
Where thoughts return to someone through every passing week.
It turns into the words we choose, the promises we make,
The truths we dare to whisper when there is a heart at stake.

But words can sound like heaven and still dissolve like rain,
They can promise they’ll be present, then disappear through pain.
For “I love you” may be beautiful, sincere in every part,
But words alone can’t carry all the weight that’s in the heart.

Because love must travel further if it’s ever to be known,
Beyond the thoughts and sentences, beyond the seeds we’ve sown.
It reaches hands and footsteps, the choices that we make,
The staying when it’s difficult, the giving when we ache.

Love is showing up when silence would be easier instead,
It’s proving with our actions all the things our mouths have said.
It’s choosing someone’s heart again when fear says we should run,
And doing what love promised long after words are done.

So let it start within the heart, then wander through the head,
Let every tender feeling find the courage to be said.
But let it finish in our hands, in everything we do,
Because love becomes most beautiful when words and actions prove.

The heart may be where love begins,
The mind may give it voice,
But action is where love becomes
A living, breathing choice.
