Still, she waits

September 15, 2026

She waits beside the clock’s unhurried hands,
For life to soften all its stern demands.
For timing to grow tender, stars align,
For one clear moment whispering, Now is mine.

She waits within the wings, just out of sight,
While others take their places in the light.
She watches love choose someone else instead,
Then folds away the words she left unsaid.

She waits for someone not to look…but see
The hidden depths beneath who she must be.
For someone who can hear her quiet heart,
And recognize her worth right from the start.

She waits to be the choice, not almost picked,
Not wanted only when the time permits.
She dreams of being held without the fear
That love will disappear when she draws near.

She waits through every maybe, not just yet,
Through promises that others soon forget.
Through doors left barely open, never wide,
And empty spaces meant to keep her tied.

But waiting has not made her spirit small.
Her hope has somehow outlived every fall.
Each heartbreak left a scar upon her soul,
But never took the dream of being whole.

She does not wait because she doubts her worth,
Or thinks another gives her value birth.
She knows the precious treasure that she holds.
She waits for someone brave enough for gold.

And though some nights her faith becomes a thread,
She guards the little flame that is not dead.
She lets herself still dream that love exists.
A love that chooses, treasures, stays, persists.

Perhaps someday the wings will disappear,
And someone meant to see her will draw near.
Until that day, though hope may hesitate,
She keeps her candle burning…and she waits.
