There’s healing in the tears we cry,
Though all they feel like is goodbye.
They fall from places words can’t reach,
A quiet truth the heart must teach.
We hold so much behind our eyes,
The broken dreams, the swallowed cries.
The things we wished had turned out right,
The grief we carry through the night.
But tears were never meant for shame,
They’re water washing through the pain.
Each drop releases something sore,
A weight we need to hold no more.
Sometimes they come in gentle streams,
For people lost and shattered dreams.
Sometimes they fall like pouring rain,
As if the heart can’t hold the pain.
And still, somehow, when crying ends,
The jagged ache begins to mend.
The chest grows softer, breath comes slow,
And something heavy starts to go.
For healing isn’t staying strong,
Or acting like there’s nothing wrong.
Sometimes it’s breaking down awhile,
Before we learn again to smile.
So let them fall when they appear,
There’s nothing weak about a tear.
The strongest hearts still need release;
Sometimes we cry our way to peace.
And maybe tears are proof we cared,
That something beautiful lived there.
That even when our hearts must grieve,
They’re brave enough to still believe.
So cry until the storm grows small,
Until you’ve nothing left to fall.
For after rain, the skies can clear –
And sometimes healing starts with tears.
