Somewhere Beneath the Same Moon

October 7, 2026

I wonder where you are tonight,
Beneath the stars, beneath their light.
Are you asleep, or wide awake,
With dreams of love you’ve yet to make?

Are you beneath a quilt of blue,
Or watching clouds the moon slips through?
Do you have someone by your side,
Or is there room where I could hide?

Perhaps you’re somewhere sipping tea,
Unaware you’re being missed by me.
Or laughing at some silly show,
While I’m beneath my blankets, though…

I wonder if you feel it too,
This strange and lovely missing you.
A longing for a face unknown,
A heart that someday feels like home.

Perhaps we’ve met, perhaps we’ve not,
Perhaps you’re closer than I thought.
Perhaps you’re healing from a past,
And learning how to love at last.

I wonder what your pillows know,
The secrets that you never show.
Do you reach across an empty bed,
Or hold your dreams inside your head?

And do you ever ask the moon
If love might find its way here soon?
If somewhere, in the world so wide,
There’s someone meant to sleep beside?

I’d tell the stars to whisper low,
To find you anywhere they go.
To kiss your forehead, soft and sweet,
And tuck the moonlight round your feet.

I’d ask the wind to brush your cheek,
And carry words I cannot speak.
To tell you that, though worlds apart,
There’s room for you inside my heart.

But who you are, I cannot say,
Or why the stars have kept away
The warmth of someone meant for me,
A love I wonder if I’ll see.

So here I lie, my blankets tight,
And wish you one more soft goodnight.
Perhaps you’re dreaming just like me,
Of all the things that we could be.

And if our paths are meant to meet,
Through crowded rooms or quiet streets,
I hope the stars will gently guide
Your wandering heart here to my side.

Until that day, I’ll close my eyes,
And send a wish across the skies.
For somewhere underneath this blue,
I’m falling asleep without you.

And though I know not where you are,
I’ll whisper softly to a star:
“Wherever he is, whatever he dreams,
Keep him as safe as moonlight beams.”

Then off to sleep, my thoughts will roam,
And wonder when you’ll wander home.
For isn’t it a curious thing,
To miss the love tomorrow brings?
