The evening settles, soft and slow,
And silence fills the rooms I know.
The world moves on, as worlds will do,
But mine feels quieter without you.
It’s not the distance that I mind,
Or all the hours left behind.
It’s little things I wish to share,
Then I catch myself…you’re not there.
I miss the laughter, warm and sweet,
The way you make the hours fleet.
The playful words, the stolen smile,
The way you make me stay awhile.
I miss the feeling of being seen,
The warmth that lives in the in-between.
The simple joy a message brings,
The happiness in little things.
And though I know you’re somewhere near,
Just living life beyond me here,
I find myself with thoughts that stray
To all the things I’d like to say.
I do not need a grand display,
Or promises of some…someday.
No whispered vows beneath the moon,
Just wishing you would be here soon.
Perhaps it’s selfish, just a bit,
To miss the spark your presence lit.
But some connections leave a glow
That lingers long after they go.
So I’ll let the evening have its peace,
And let these restless feelings cease.
For missing you need not imply
A broken heart or tearful eye.
It’s simply this, both sweet and true,
My world feels brighter next to you.
And though tonight we’re worlds apart,
You’ve crossed the quiet of my heart.
